UX VS UI: IS IT REALLY SO CONFUSING?

In this blog we talk about the difference between IU and UX design. Two concepts that are constantly in conflict, but in fact are two different but also related things.

If you are new to the world of design, you have probably encountered these two concepts, and they have even led you to confusion. It is very important to know the difference between them, and when to use them. UI usually has an aesthetic note, it deals with the appearance, colors, fonts, shapes of a particular product or service. UX, on the other hand, deals with the design of user-product experience and user interaction. What do users think when they come across a product? Are the interaction steps clearly defined?

These two concepts have not received as much attention in the past. People who made software or products were usually called designers. Only in recent years, with the development of the design industry, UX slowly separates from UI and become a separate field.

The focus of the UI designer lies on the interface / layout. He tries to get from simple wireframes to polished prototypes. For him, the call-to-action button is just a button, it hasn't any further meaning. The UI designer knows the brand he designs for, he knows their history, and he designs the new product according to the concept of the brand. Its task is to make the interface look the same for all users, e.g. responsive website design.

UX design starts with a problem and ends with a wireframe or prototype. The UX designer conducts researches on the end user, and based on the obtained results, strives to make the interaction with the product as intuitive as possible. In short, the end user is always in the center, and the whole design revolves around him. He should be able to conduct his task on the product in the fastest possible time period, e.g. searching on a website. By creating user flows and personas, the UX designer gets acquainted with the needs of the end user, and dependent on that he limits the design of the final product. In addition, the task of UX designers is to test prototypes designed by UI designers and to make changes if necessary. A very important role of UX designers is to analyze the final product and its acceptance among end users.

As we see, these two concepts are not so confusing when a line is drawn. More confusing are the different sources of definitions we are surrounded, so everyone has their own understanding of these two terms. It is important to remember that every product needs to go through all the processes of both UX and UI design in order to be marketed as successfully as possible.
